A Quick Reminder…
When was the last time you visited our office for a routine hygiene examination and cleaning? If it has been longer than six months, we encourage you to contact our office today to schedule an appointment. Routine dental care is imperative to not only your oral health’s success now and in the future, but also to your overall health. Delaying routine care increases your risk of developing serious dental conditions. Read on to learn more about the importance of routine dental care.
Is it Time for a Visit?
We recommend patients visit our office for a hygiene examination and cleaning every four to six months, depending on any lasting dental conditions, such as gum disease. Even if you have an established dental hygiene routine and brush and floss regularly, regular dental care is still a necessity. During hygiene examinations, we not only thoroughly clean your teeth, but we also check for signs of decay, gum disease, and oral cancer. There are not always indicators that these conditions are present in your mouth. If you have a condition and do not treat it, you are increasing your risk of experiencing severe discomfort and a dental emergency. Unlike other medical conditions that may improve when left without medical intervention, oral health issues will continue to worsen until you get treatment.
Don’t Forget About Teens and Children
Just like adults, children and teens also need to visit the dentist every six months. We need to be sure the jaw is developing correctly and that the baby and adult teeth are emerging properly. Children are also very prone to developing dental decay, so we need to check their teeth to be sure no problems have developed that will need treatment. During these visits, we will also recommend whether orthodontics are necessary.
